A case for my uke

I've been going to ukulele classes - and carrying my ukulele in it's cardboard box didn't seem very cool - so I raided my stash and came up with some quilted fabric and ...
...now it can be cosy

But wait...there's more

5 down - 3 to go. I'm getting the feeling it's time to move on to something else....

Mitts, mitts and more mitts

Well I made 4 pairs of the above mitts but gave some away before I could photograph them altogether.
Now I'm making more out of a TouchYarns yarn - it is 60% Merino, 30% Possum and 10% Nylon. The possum should make them really cosy for the colder times of winter - which is almost here - so I'm making them as fast as I can

...and next

I've made these mitts before - but this time I am using the Lion Brand Magic Stripes in Jellybean. It is the same yarn that Dotty used in the original pattern "A Mittful of Jellybeans" on Ravelry. The yarn had been discontinued but I managed to get it from someone's stash. The plan is to make 4 pairs for gifts for friends - very handy now that we are heading into winter

Progress

The granny square blanket: adding a border in the main colour to each square

and also knitting a child's sweater. It is a pattern from Lang Yarns (#4). I found the brochure in the market in Seoul last year. Getting the Lang yarn (Omega)was too expensive for the postage - so I've opted for Berocco Comfort DK - which is 50% nylon and 50% acrylic. It has a very soft feel - so far so good...

Finished another project

This is the Alpaca Boucle jumper - pattern and yarn from Touchyarns.
It is nice and long, warm and soft against the skin.
But for winter I'm going to need a scarf for my neck.
It feels good to finish something and now I can move on to the myriad of other projects I want to tackle

It's been awhile

Well - it has been awhile because I was in India - doing mosaic tile work.
You can read about it on my other blog if interested
http://wreninkorea.blogspot.com

While away I did get to make some granny squares. My sister and I are making a blanket for a friend affected by the Christchurch earthquakes.
And since getting back I have been working on the Boucle Jumper. Almost finished the second sleeve - which will leave the front to be done.

Boucle jumper/sweater

I've now finished the back of the boucle jumper. It's been a bit slow going as I had to finish my other wip. The boucle is a pain to knit with but the end result is soft.

Lee's top finished

This is not a great photo but ...
It is the Liesl top - made for a friend - a bigger size and no pockets
Black Louet Euroflax Linen
Now to post it off

Something completed

Here they are: 3 balls = 12 squares
I usually made one a day - it's been fun and I'm tempted to make some more but for now I'll post these off.

wips, wips, wips

In case you didn't know - 'wip' stands for 'work in progress'

Some more squares for Crochet a Rainbow.

And a little impulse buy...
In today's newspaper there was a story about New Zealanders spending $16m a day on impulse buying. And yesterday I contributed to that at Touch Yarns in Clyde. They had a sample of the sweater/jersey and I tried it on and Bingo - I wanted it. So now I'm also making my own Alpaca Boucle jumper. It has a lovely 'drape' and I hope it turns out as well as the sample one. The pattern is a modified version of an older Touch Yarn pattern for a square neck sweater (#14)
